Event Information:

  • Free Drinking Water: We provide free drinking water during the event. To reduce waste, we do not provide water cups. Please bring your own refillable container. 😊
  • Drinks: We do not sell drinks (alcoholic or otherwise) at the event.
  • Outside Drinks and Snacks: You may bring outside drinks and light snacks. Please avoid heavy meals or messy food. Remember to take care of your own trash so our cleaning staff can rest well. 🌟
  • No Smoking: Smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere in the building. If you need to smoke, please go outside. 🚭

  • Payment Options: We accept credit cards on our website. Cash payments are only accepted at the door.
  • Pass Types: We offer only the full pass; there are no single-night passes or party passes. Please understand that we can only sell the full pass.
  • Schedule and Updates: Check the taiwanzoukfestival.com website or join the WhatsApp Announcement group for the latest schedule and event updates.
  • Hygiene: Take care of your personal hygiene. Bring extra shirts, deodorant, and cologne/perfume. Let’s all smell good when we dance! 🌸
  • Respect and Boundaries: Respect your partner’s boundaries. If you’re unsure about something, ask for consent. If you feel uncomfortable or unsafe, speak up and report it to our staff.
  • Questions or Issues: If you have any questions or encounter problems, visit the front desk or look for someone wearing a TZF staff badge.
  • Private Lessons: Contact artists directly to arrange private lessons.

Workshop Level Requirements:

We don’t have auditions for workshop levels. Assess yourself honestly and choose workshops appropriate for your skill level. Challenging yourself is great, but joining a class far above your capability won’t help you or others. Remember that “higher level” classes aren’t necessarily more useful for your dancing. Our artists excel at teaching interesting material suitable for a wide range of dancers. So take your time and don’t rush into intermediate classes. 😊

  • Open Level: Less than 1 year of Brazilian Zouk dance experience, with knowledge of fundamental steps such as linear basic, lateral, viradinha, io-io, lunge, and simple turns.
  • Intermediate/Advanced (Int/Adv): At least one year of Brazilian Zouk dance experience and competence in fundamental head movements such as balĂŁo, peĂŁo, and chicote.

Jack and Jill (J&J) Competitors:

  • Registration Deadline: Jack and Jill registration closes at 12:30 PM on Saturday (2/22). Buy your Jack and Jill pass early to help us organize it smoothly. Purchase here.
  • Bib Pickup: Collect your J&J bibs from the front desk on Saturday when you arrive. Don’t wait until the last minute.
  • Marshalling Area: After workshops end on Saturday at 17:00, head straight to the marshalling area so we can start the competition promptly.
  • Prelims and Finals: We’ll conduct the Novice and Intermediate prelims and finals all on Saturday. Please stay for the entire event.
  • Rules: Familiarize yourself with the BZDC J&J rules on the BZDC website before the competition.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ):

  • What kinds of passes are available for TZF?
    • A: We offer the full pass (Fri – Sun) and the Thursday preparty pass.
  • Are there party passes, workshop passes, single day passes, or single night passes?

    • A: No, we only offer full passes, just like last year.
  • Why only full passes?
    • A: TZF is a year-long project that carries financial risks. We prefer participants who want to support the entire event. Having only one pass type also simplifies check-in and bracelet management during entry.
  • Can people share their pass with someone else?
    • A: No, each pass is valid for one person only.
  • Can a pass be refunded?
    • A: No, pass sales are final.
  • Can a pass be transferred?
    • A: Yes, we can transfer passes up to a week before the event starts. 😊
  • Why is your pass more expensive than xyz event’s pass?
    • A: Flying international artists to Asia is costly, as is their accommodation and fees. Our high-quality venue in central Taipei also contributes to the pricing. We aim to create a fantastic experience for all participants.
  • Special discounts for xyz country?
    • A: Sorry, we have one price for Taiwan residents and a discounted price for international visitors.
  • Wristband placement: Do I have to wear it?
    • A: Yes, participants must wear the wristband on their bodies—wrist or ankle—where it can’t be removed without cutting it.
  • Int/Adv class restrictions?
    • A: No tests; self-assess honestly. We’ll share guidelines and emphasize the value of fundamental classes.
  • J&J divisions this year?
    • A: Novice and intermediate for sure. Advanced and All Star/Champion if enough interest. Good chance for Advanced this year.
  • Leader-to-follower ratio control?
    • A: Last year’s ratio was about 2 leaders : 3 followers. We won’t limit follower passes but aim to attract more leaders from outside Asia.
  • Free water at the event?
    • A: Absolutely! 🌊  Bring your own bottle- we don’t provide cups.
  • Alcohol?
    • A: No, but feel free to bring your own.
