-Many stores/restaurants accept credit cards and contactless payments, but some places still only accept cash.

-Most people working in service jobs speak some English, and many places have English signs/menus.Β  Outside of Taipei there is less English.

-Taxis are plentiful and not expensive, and Uber is also widely used

-The MRT (metro), buses, trains, and high speed rail are clean, safe, and inexpensive

-Although you should always be aware of your surroundings and possessions, Taipei is generally very safe
